Competence Center
The Södra Älvsborg Fire and Rescue Service is the leading supplier
of training for both cutting & extinguishing technology and positive
pressure ventilation (PPV) systems in Sweden. We offer a complete range
of courses targeted at users at all levels.
Based on our expertise in firefighting and our close cooperation with
the Swedish Rescue Services Agency, Cold Cut System and the Swedish National
Testing and Research Institute, we have established an international competence
center for training and development of cutting & extinguishing
and PPV technology in Borås, located in the south west of Sweden.
Our experienced instructors give you the best available opportunity to
learn how to use and implement cutting & extinguishing and PPV technology
in your organization. We take pride in adjusting each course to your specific
needs and fleet.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or if you
are interested in a tailor-made course.
Research and Development
The Södra Älvsborg Fire and Rescue Service has a long tradition
of developing firefighting methods. We started working with positive pressure
ventilation close to ten years ago.
In 1998-1999, we initiated a joint research project with the Swedish National
Testing and Research Institute on PPV. We were given the assignment by
the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and the Swedish Council for Work Life
Research.
Our results showed that the work environment for firefighters can be improved
significantly. Additionally, we found that PPV is an efficient tool in
firefighting and rescue work.
Currently, we are doing extensive research with the Swedish National Testing
and Research Institute on combining cutting & extinguishing technology
with PPV.
