At arrival there was a fire in a wardrobe on the second floor and the bedroom was full of smoke. As the fire was hidden I decided that we should use the Cutting Extinguisher. I also decided to apply the fan to provide positive pressure.

Initially we couldn’t start the Cutting Extinguisher so I ordered a hole to be made through the roof to ventilate fire gases that most certainly was accumulating in the attic. This decision was changed to apply a fog spear instead. Meanwhile the smoke obviously changed character that I interpreted to mean that the fire was now spreading to the attic. The staff managed to start up the Cutting Extinguisher and it was brought to the bedroom.

When it was used to cool down the fire gases an incident occurred since there were people on the roof and they were almost hit by the water jet as it penetrated. When they saw the water jet they quickly retreated to a safe place.

We could see a clear improvement of the situation after having used the Cutting Extinguisher and my assessment was that we now had the situation under control. Our activities changed to opening up to be able to inspect the affected areas. We put back the roof tiles to protect against rain.

At 22:50 PM we contacted the insurance company for a valuation but they decided to make an inspection the following day. The police was present. The electricity was on during the incident but I decided to switch it of. Water flowed through the floor to the level below. This affected almost half the house so we moved all valuable goods to not affected areas. We also used the water vacuum cleaner during this phase of the operation.
During the inspection we found an electric bulb laying on the floor in the attic. According to the owner of the property it had been on earlier in the day and had warmed up the asfaboard which was attached under the roof. The owner had lowered the temperature in the board by spraying it with water.
Experiences: We could not reach the seat of the fire and there was a big risk of it spreading to the attic through the ventilation bewteen wall and roof. There was no manhole into this area. The Cutting Extinguisher was very effiecient here and contributed to the good result. There was however an incident when the Cutting Extinguisher was used at the same time as there was people on the roof.
We complete our activities at 23:34.
