Perforation
and flame extinguishing using a CCS COBRA system
The
CCS COBRA-system consists of pressure vessels and high pressure
pumps which produces the necessary energy of the water/abrasive
for the cutting and fire fighting. The working pressure is about
200 bar and the water flow 50 lit per minute. There are several
different fire scenarios where I can see a potential for the
equipment to do a very god job both as a perforator and an extinguisher
where other firefighting tacties does not seem to be optimal,
i.e it could ba a good alternative to measures which increase
the ventilation. An an example:
- Fires
in building enclosures with a low ventilation such as garrets,
cellars, framed floor etc
- When
there is a risk for a backdraft
- Fires
and rescue operations in aeroplanes and ships
- Fires
in containers

The figure above
Extinguishing of a container
fire is shown. The fire had grown to flashover when the equipment
perforated the contained wall and extinguished the fire within
one minute
